Sarahah Users: Beware, Know The Truth Behind App

The harmless word Sarahah, which means ‘honesty’ in Arabic, has taken the app world by storm. In less than a month this app has gotten approx. 10 million downloads and still counting. The Sarahah App was originally developed as a system of giving ‘Constructive Feedback’ or you can say ‘Anonymous Messages’. But this blog, we have written to make Sarahah users aware of certain things.

Here are some reasons why Sarahah users should watch out…

  1. A Breeding Ground for Anonymous Cowards: Those who type insults without revealing their identities are merely cowards who know what they are doing is wrong. If you receive such cowardly messages, it is best ignored all together.

  2. Unwarranted Anxiety: Expectations cause anxiety and Sarahah may cause the user anxiety if they set themselves a certain expectation while receiving messages that do not measure up to their high expectations.

  3. Not for the Gentle Hearts: This app may prove too much for those who give a lot of importance to social opinions and their social image. Teens, especially, are most vulnerable.

Note: parents are advised to monitor the use of this app on their teenager’s phone.

  1. Cyber Bullying Prospects: Cyber bullying is recognized as a criminal offence in many countries. Sarahah gives way for bullies to do their dirty deeds without being noticed.

  2. Fake Support Apps: Many apps have emerged since the craze of Sarahah, claiming to reveal the identity of the sender. However, these apps are fake and are known to cause unwanted controversy and irritation among their expectant users.

Of course this blog is not a plea to go against the app. It merely brings to light the potential harm, the app can cause. If you do have the app, and are a user, just beware, and realize that not all feedback is constructive.
