There has been much spoken about the demise of the ethereal Queen of the Screens, Sridevi Boney Kapoor. The nation awoke to the tragic news on Sunday, February 24th, 2018. It was too soon for her to be taken, but the news broke that the actor had suffered a massive cardiac arrest while in Dubai attending her nephew’s wedding.
The outpouring of grief and love for the actor flooded social media and soon the news was circulating stories of conspiracy theories. After the initial post-mortem report made its way on to digital media platforms, people began to speculate whether foul play was involved. The forensic reports stated that the actor had died of accidental drowning in her bathtub. The reports also noted that there were traces of alcohol in her blood. Immediately, some were quick to defend the departed actor saying that she avoided alcohol.
The late actor’s body was brought back to India from Dubai after all the formalities. Businessman Anil Ambani sent a chartered plane to have the actor’s mortal remains brought back to India in an incredible gesture of compassion and goodwill. Her final rituals took place at Vile Parle in Mumbai on February 28th, 2018.
Sridevi will be remembered for her silver screen beauty and grace that she was. At the young age of four, she made her debut assaying the role of Lord ‘Muruga’ in the Tamil Film ‘Thunaivan’. As a young woman, she stood out in her strong roles. She conquered the nation and won hearts all over the country through a number of diverse roles in a multitude of languages. She arrived in Bollywood with films like Tofa and Masterji. However, it was her role in Mr. India which got her noticed by many.
Sridevi married producer Boney Kapoor after a much speculated and conjectured affair spread amongst the tabloids. They have two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. Jhanvi’s big screen debut, Dhadak, alongside Ishaan Khatter was slated to be released on July 20th, 2018. It is truly tragic that Sridevi will not be present for her daughter’s big day.
