On World Water Day : Stay Hydrated, Stay Fresh! Reduce, Reuse And Recycle Water

We always hear that we should drink lots of water. The most commonly heard advice is to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day! What people often don’t realize is that drinking water has a lot of benefits. In addition to helping maintain homeostatic processes in the body, water also plays a significant role in skin health. Water accounts for up to 75% of the body’s fluid component and is also a natural detoxing agent. It is important to keep water intake at an appropriate balance considering the seasonal variations throughout the year.

In the summer time, the heat takes a toll on the body and it is important to stay hydrated to ensure that the body isn’t undergoing any electrolyte imbalance. In the winter, harsh cold climates take their toll on the skin. The air becomes more dry and our bodies don’t absorb and retain moisture in the same way they normally do, which in turn means that the lack of moisture has to be compensated for.

To ensure that you are taking in enough water, it’s important to not just take in water alone, but also have a few other options. Some of these include eating more water-based foods, fruit juices, soups, etc.
